local livelihood in Portugal
The main industries in Portugal are textiles, clothing,
footwear, wood and cork, paper, chemicals, auto-parts manufacturing, base
metals, dairy products, wine and other foods, porcelain and ceramics,
glassware, technology, telecommunications; ship construction and refurbishment;
tourism.
Portugal is known for having a hot climate which makes it a great
place for growing exotic fruits. These often get exported to places like
England and America for resale in supermarkets. Portugal is also one of the
only places where cork oak trees grow this makes Portugal the largest
manufacturer of wine corks and corks boards all things that are made from the
bark and trunk of the cork oak tree.
In Portugal there is a lot of ‘dead space’ this is just fields of unused soil a lot in which have ruins that are older than 1920. This dead space often appeals to people who have plans to be self-sustainable and the kinds of people who are looking for a peaceful retirement. Because land in Portugal is so cheap most Portuguese people have extra land either near or away from their house for agricultural purposes. It is common to grow olives and wine this would be for olive oil and wine the most popular consumable things in Portugal.

Reliability: Luke and Sarah are people who have moved and bought
land in Portugal to create their new life. They are going through
the process of migrating to Portugal that I am researching about.
