September review

The start of my EPQ,  My chosen topic will be: Portugal  I'm excited to start delving further into my research of Portugal as before my project starts I already have a small knowledge of Portugal through YouTube and my parents plan and research into off-grid life in Portugal. For my project however I plan to go down a different route and look at life in Portugal, the culture, language, living costs, economy and anything of interest that I pass through the months I will be working on my EPQ.  To start I made a mind map of the things I want to find out as well as the way I want to present it. I started my blogger and posted my first post about my plans for the EPQ project and what I want to get out of it once completed  Coming to the end of September I have made a plan and my next step is to write aims and objectives to post to my blogger.

My progress so far - Land and Building Regulations

laws on building and restoring houses in Portugal  My progress so far I have done some secondary  research on laws of building on land in Portugal  and the difference in areas and councils and the requirements for upkeep and buying land in Portugal.  My initial findings were that in Portugal everything you do to your land must be allowed and passed by the council in the area of Portugal that you are living in, so things such as a porch or extension  are only allowed when they are needed and building can not be done if there is not a need for it. I found out that if you decide to build/renovate a house/ruin yourself, you will have to obtain the relevant council permit. Small interior works and certain outside works that don't change the exterior shape and look of a structure don't require a paid license, but you will always need a declaration of legality from the authorities. Once you have confirmed that you can build on the land, make sure that the local Mu...

My Intentions for EPQ

Image
Welcome to my blog, I am using this platform to achieve an EPQ. The project I have chosen is Portugal, Specifically my experience having a British childhood compared to a Portuguese childhood; A how to guide on how to emigrate abroad from a students perspective and my parents perspective relocating a family abroad. Somethings I want to look at in particular are the opportunities and barriers of living and making a living in an unknown country. My first step would be to research Portugal and explore what it will take. For example: Portuguese economy  barriers in terms of language  Portuguese childhood and upbringings  financial stability of emigrating  how many people emigrate to live in a rural community life expectancy  advantages of moving now  disadvantages of waiting a year and the changes that will prosper Brexit and how that will hinder migration into Europe  job opportunities for young people education and higher education   comparison...
